Fashion Activities for Students

There are 3 Levels:
  • Elementary - grades 3 through 5
  • Middle School - grades 6 through 8
  • High School - grades 9 through 12
There are 6 Divisions:
  • Traditional Construction - Students construct a garment using traditional sewing methods and techniques.
  • Nontraditional Construction - Students construct a garment from non-fabric items, such as duct tape, and without traditional sewing methods.
  • Construction, Other/Needle Art
  • Smart Buying - Students do comparison shopping to purchase a garment.
  • Design Embellishment - Students embellish a garment with paint, novelty notions, or trims..
  • ReDesign - Students redesign and change an existing garment.

Awards

1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are awarded in each CATEGORY of each Division in each Level and receive place ribbons.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are awarded for OVERALL scores of each Division of each Level and receive medallions. These Overall winners in Middle School and High School may apply for a scholarship.
